Cytron Maker Line is a 5-channel infrared (IR) line sensor array for line-following robots and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). It tracks lines 13 mm to 30 mm wide, and can be set to follow a light (white) or dark (black) line.
Calibration is simpler than on typical IR sensors: hold the calibrate button for 2 seconds, sweep the sensor across the line, then press the button again. Calibration data is stored in EEPROM and kept after power-off, so it normally only needs repeating if the sensor height or the line or background colour changes.
It has five digital outputs (one per sensor) and one analog output whose voltage represents the line position, giving finer resolution for PID-controlled line following.
Features
- Operating voltage: 3.3V and 5V compatible, with reverse polarity protection
- Recommended line width: 13 mm to 30 mm
- Selectable light or dark line
- Sensing distance (height): 4 mm to 40 mm (Vcc = 5V, black line on white surface)
- Sensor refresh rate: 200 Hz
- Outputs: 5 digital, 1 analog
- Works with controllers such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi
